JAMB Debunks Alleged Multiple Scheduling of Aminat Suleiman in UTME Exam and Exposes Possible Case of Registration Fraud

JAMB Debunks Alleged Multiple Scheduling of Aminat Suleiman in UTME Exam and Exposes Possible Case of Registration Fraud

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied multiple scheduling of one Aminat Yahaya Suleiman in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) exercise. According to the Public Relations Officer of JAMB, Dr Benjamin Fabian, the video made on Tiktok by Aminat alleging the board was false. He explained that the candidate registered for the examination in Abuja but relocated to Ibadan without notifying JAMB through the change of location option available on its portal.

Further investigation revealed that Aminat Yahaya Suleiman and her sister, Zainab Yahaya Suleiman, who she claimed to share a phone with, had registered with two different numbers, hence the multiple messages received on the same phone. This raised suspicions that Aminat may have registered twice using two different National Identification Numbers (NIN) since the photos on the JAMB portal on the two registrations had a striking resemblance, and there were other issues regarding the use of awaiting results for the NECO she wrote since 2018 at age 14.

Additionally, both candidates chose to study Islamic Studies at the University of Abuja, had the same surname and middle name, and filled forms on the JAMB portal indicating the same. Fabian emphasized that candidates were the ones to choose locations where they would write UTME, and the option of change of location existed.

When JAMB sent a message to Aminat, it went to another candidate, and they are now trying to establish the identity of this candidate. The social media influencer, Saheed Oladele, who took up Aminat’s case and called out JAMB, later apologized to the commission for the misunderstanding that ensued and appreciated the body for allowing the candidate to write her examination in Ibadan.

Oladele said that he was concerned when he heard that Aminat had written UTME in Abuja and had been rescheduled to write it again in Abuja while residing in Ibadan. He took to social media to let JAMB know what she had been going through, and they were able to resolve the issue promptly. Oladele also confirmed that Aminat did not take the exam twice in Abuja but went to the centre the second time with her sister who received the message meant for Aminat because they share a phone.

Aminat apologized to JAMB for the embarrassment caused by her action and thanked the commission for allowing her to write the examination in Ibadan. She explained that she chose Abuja as her examination centre but relocated to Ibadan and received the message meant for her sister on the day of the exam. She and her sister went to the CBT centre together, but only her sister was allowed in to write the exam.
