Babatunde Fabiyi, a 69-year-old man, was among the candidates who took the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with the intention of pursuing a degree in medicine at the University of Lagos. According to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Fabiyi selected the Lagos State University (LASU) as his second choice, also with the aim of studying medicine. In addition, he chose Yaba College of Technology as his third choice to study science laboratory technology.
The examination body reported that Fabiyi, who hails from Egbado-North in Ogun State, sat for the UTME at Centre 457, Nubi Private School, Okota, Lagos State. According to the centre’s examination officials, Mr Fabiyi was a model candidate, arriving early and diligently following all instructions given to him.
It is worth noting that over 1.5 million candidates took the 2023 UTME, and the board has released results from both the exam and the mop-up UTME. Despite his advanced age, Fabiyi’s decision to sit for the UTME in order to pursue his dream of studying medicine is commendable and inspiring.
