Ejikeme Joy, a 16-year-old student from Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnenwi, Anambra state, has emerged as the overall best student in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with an impressive score of 362. This accomplishment is a testament to her dedication and hard work, as she scored exceptionally high in all subjects, with 98% in English Language, 89% in Physics, 94% in Biology, and 81% in Chemistry.

Following the announcement of her remarkable feat, the Anambra state government expressed their delight and pride in Ejikeme’s achievement. The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Charles Soludo, Christian Aburime, released a statement on Saturday, May 5, acknowledging Ejikeme’s outstanding performance, which brought joy and celebration to her school and the entire Anambra state.
Anambra state Commissioner of Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, also lauded Ejikeme’s excellent performance, describing it as “excellent and very outstanding.” This recognition is a testament to the quality of education and investment in the education sector by Governor Charles Soludo’s administration in Anambra state.
Ejikeme’s remarkable performance has not only brought joy to her family and school but also to the entire state, as they celebrate her remarkable feat. The Anambra state government has pledged to monitor her academic progress and support her as she pursues her career aspirations.
In a related development, another brilliant student, Lotanna Azuokeke, a 15-year-old student of Bishop Otubelu Juniorate, scored an impressive 337 in the UTME, with 99 points in Mathematics, 86 in Physics, 88 in Chemistry, and 64 in English. As a reward for his outstanding performance, the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University (GOU), Enugu state, offered him a fully funded scholarship to study medicine. These accomplishments demonstrate the incredible potential of Nigeria’s youth and the importance of investing in education for a brighter future.
